Chase Waterfalls
It is said that Dominica has 365 rivers, and although this isn't an exact number, there are plenty of rivers and waterfalls. The most popular waterfalls are the stunning double waterfall, Trafalgar Falls, and the picturesque Emerald Pool. Both of these are in Dominica's national parks and for great reason. If you prefer more off the beaten path there are waterfalls requiring more hiking or more secluded. Our staff or a local guide are happy to suggest some of the locals favorites depending on what type of adventure you're looking to have.
Another must see while on island is Ti Tou Gorge. Upon arrival to the gorge you will be suited up with a lifejacket and an inner tube if you would like. A guide will take you swimming through the gorge till you reach a waterfall at the end. The views from within the gorge are remarkable and definitely should be on your to do list while on island.

Hiking

Dominica is home to the longest hiking trail in the Caribbean, The Waitukubuli Trail. The trail is composed of 14 segments ranging in difficulty and distance. A guide is highly recommended for hiking any of the trail and required for some sections as some areas can be confusing or very difficult. Dominica's most popular fairly difficult hike is to the Boiling Lake. The boiling lake in Dominica is the second largest in the world. It is approximately a 4 hour hike each direction in rough terrain. The views going through the valley of desolation are breath taking and well worth the hike. A guide is required for this hike and should be planned in advanced. For the casual hiker looking for a nice view at the end of the hike we highly recommend Middleham falls or Victoria Falls. Both are about 45 minute hikes each direction and the end destinations are beautiful waterfalls. Victoria Falls is located on the south east of the island so it is a long drive to get to. If you're interested in hiking while visiting, we recommend checking out Next Level Hikers for upcoming hikes. This is a great way to meet locals and experience authentic Dominica.
Relax in the Sulphur Hot Springs
There are 9 active volcanoes on the island. This volcanic activity is seen throughout many areas of island creating a diverse geological environment . Located primarily in Wotten Waven you will find plenty of natural Sulphur hot Springs to bath in. Pack your swimsuit and towel and spend an afternoon relaxing in the various pools of different temperatures. The sulphur is known to have natural healing properties and is great for your skin.
Scuba Diving/Snorkeling
According to PADI, Dominica ranks within the top 10 diving destinations in world . There are popular diving sites all along the west coast of the island. The deep waters offer fantastic wall dives with a wide variety of sea wildlife. You can also find crevices and caves to swim through. We highly recommend taking a snorkel through Champagne Beach and swimming through the abundance of bubbles coming through the sea floor. Snorkel equipment is available to rent from the beach, and there are local guides available to take you through the area and point out wildlife and teach you about the history of the area.
Take a trip up to Portsmouth
Portsmouth is located on the north west side of the island, approximately an hour drive from our hotel. Within Portsmouth you will find the Indian River, another national park. This river was originally used as a trade route. To go up the Indian River you will hire a local guide to paddle you up in a wooden boat. Along this journey the local guide will teach you about the history, the agriculture, and the wildlife. The boat ride and river are very relaxing, filled with many species of birds. If your interested in the history of Dominica, we recommend checking out Fort Shirley in Cabrits National Park. This fortress was built in 1765 and was the location of the African revolt in 1802. You can hike up to a lookout point with a canon or walk around the fort and see the canons and read about the history. Portsmouth is the second largest village in Dominica and used to be the capital city. You will find some great dining options in and around Portsmouth as well as beautiful beaches.
Visit Kalinago Territory
Looking to experience the culture and history of Dominica? The Kalinago people are natives to the island. The Kalinago territory is located on the north east side of the island. Take a drive through and be welcomed with kindness. Learn about basket weaving, canoe building, and wood carving.
